Valentines Poo Drop Cookies

So there we were on a typical, February afternoon. Valentines Day is slowly descending upon us.  Back from a rigorous trip to the local Whole Foods, we caught ourselves in an unusual, but not totally undocumented, predicament:  Whilst embarking upon our quest to conquer the winding, whole grain-studded maze of Whole Foods, we could not resist but invest in not one, not two, but THREE luscious cake mixes.  All of different flavors.  All screaming out with the potential for creativity.  As soon as we pulled Dolly, our beloved 2008 Prius, into the parking garage of our 1950s inspired loft in Queens NY, we grabbed our 100% recycled paper shopping bags from the trunk and rushed up the shady staircase to our somewhat cramped kitchenette.  After selecting our favorite Simon and Garfunkel vinyl, we opened up the Macbook pro and began on a Chrome search which would change the course of the afternoon beyond our wildest expectations.  Within minutes, we were inspired by a particularly intriguing article on how some indie enthusiasts down south were converting their cake mixes into pallet pleasing, irresistible cookies.

Yes, dear readers, Poo Drop Cookies were born.

I know what you're probably thinking; "POO DROP COOKIES?! HOLY MOTHER OF JEEZUS." But really, they're only called that because the batter looks an awful lot like... well.... you know.

However, despite their relatively crude beginnings, the Poo Drops actually turned out simply spiffing (It's a real word. Chrome it.)

Here's where we get back to those cake mixes:  Simply by reducing the amount of water recommended on the back of the box to about a quarter of a cup, we were able to successfully come up with a quick and easy cookie dough which, when baked for at 350 degrees for 15 mins, resulted in a chewy, delicious snack.  We dipped them in a glaze of melted peruvian (and of course, organic) chocolate and butter.  In addition, we melted some white chocolate into hearts to add to the Valentine's aura.

One word for you, readers:  ORGASMIC.

Photos to follow.

Cheers. From the gals at Hipster Gourmet.
